Code of Conduct

As an online marketplace, Journi strives to connect users with safe, high-quality and legally compliant local experiences. This Code of Conduct outlines the mandatory standards and expectations for all Hosts on the platform. By listing an activity, you agree to adhere to these rules:

Rules

Safety & Security

Risk Mitigation

Hosts must take all reasonable precautions to ensure the physical safety of participants. This includes providing well-maintained equipment and clear safety briefings.

Emergency Preparedness

Hosts must have an emergency action plan, including access to first aid and knowledge of local emergency contact numbers.

Substance Abuse

Hosts must not consume alcohol or use illegal substances while conducting an activity.

Legal & Regulatory Compliance

Permits & Licenses

Hosts must possess all necessary, valid licenses, permits and certifications required by local, regional and national authorities to operate their specific activity.

Insurance

Hosts are highly encouraged (and in many jurisdictions, legally required) to hold valid commercial liability insurance covering their activities and participants.

Honesty

Hosts must not misrepresent their activities to bypass local zoning, commercial or environmental laws.

Accuracy & Transparency

Listing Accuracy

Listings must truthfully represent the activity, duration, group size, physical requirements and included amenities. ‘Bait-and-switch’ tactics are strictly prohibited.

Hidden Fees

All costs must be included in the booking price. Demanding additional, unlisted cash payments from users on-site is strictly forbidden.

Reliability & Commitment

Honouring Bookings

Hosts must fulfil all accepted bookings. Cancellations by the Host should only occur in cases of absolute emergency or dangerous weather conditions.

Punctuality

Hosts must arrive on time and fully prepared for the activity.

Respect & Non-Discrimination

Inclusivity

Hosts must treat all users with respect, regardless of their race, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.

Professional Boundaries

Harassment, inappropriate language or unwanted physical contact of any kind will not be tolerated.

Penalties

Journi enforces this Code of Conduct strictly to maintain the integrity of the platform. Violations will result in the following escalating penalties depending on the severity of the offence:

Formal Warning & Listing Demotion

For minor infractions (e.g., slight delays, poor communication, minor listing inaccuracies), the Host will receive a formal written warning. The Host's listings may be temporarily demoted in the platform's search ranking algorithm until the issue is rectified.

Financial Penalties & Withheld Payouts

For infractions involving sudden, unjustified cancellations or undisclosed additional fees charged to users, Journi reserves the right to impose a cancellation penalty fee. Additionally, payouts may be withheld pending the resolution of a user dispute or investigation.

Temporary Suspension

For repeated minor violations, operating with expired permits or receiving consistent negative reviews regarding safety or accuracy, the Host's account and all active listings will be temporarily suspended (typically 14 to 30 days). The Host must provide proof of corrective action to be reinstated.

Permanent Ban & Legal Action

Journi has a zero-tolerance policy for severe violations. A Host will be permanently banned from the platform and their account deleted for:

  • Operating illegal or dangerously unregulated activities.
  • Severe safety negligence resulting in injury.
  • Any form of discrimination, harassment or physical abuse.
  • Fraudulent behaviour or identity misrepresentation.

In cases involving illegal acts, severe harm or financial fraud, Journi will actively report the Host to local law enforcement and pursue legal action to recover any damages incurred by the platform.
